NDIS physio Sydney: mobile physiotherapy at home.

NDIS physio Sydney support that meets you where everyday movement happens—at home and in suitable community settings across Greater Sydney.

Healthroos physiotherapists work with participants on disability-related goals involving mobility, transfers, balance, physical capacity and participation. We listen first, assess what is happening now and agree on practical next steps with the participant. Families, nominees, support coordinators and plan managers can be involved with consent.

We review new referrals promptly. Appointment timing depends on location, clinical needs and current clinician capacity.

When physio may help

Work towards movement that matters in daily life.

NDIS physiotherapy may be appropriate when disability affects how a participant moves, changes position, walks, transfers, maintains balance or takes part in home and community life. The starting point is an individual assessment—not a diagnosis alone.

Your physiotherapist considers strengths, priorities, risks, the environment and the support already around the participant. Recommendations are tailored to the person and reviewed as needs or goals change.

Possible goals

A plan may focus on:

  • Safer transfers, standing and walking
  • Balance, falls risk and movement confidence
  • Strength, endurance and physical capacity
  • Positioning, movement routines and carer guidance
  • Access to meaningful home or community activities
  • Clinically appropriate equipment or mobility recommendations

Physiotherapy support

What mobile NDIS physiotherapy can include.

Mobility and transfers

Assessment and practice for bed mobility, sit-to-stand, transfers, stairs and walking, with strategies suited to the participant’s actual environment.

Balance and falls

Review of balance, gait, confidence and environmental factors, followed by clinically appropriate practice and risk-reduction recommendations.

Neurological movement

Individualised support for movement challenges associated with neurological disability, based on current function, presentation and meaningful goals.

Physical capacity

Graded strength, endurance, pacing and movement programs that can be practised safely between visits when appropriate.

Physiotherapy does not replace urgent or emergency medical care. Recommendations depend on assessment, clinical scope, consent and the participant’s circumstances.

Compare disciplines

Physio, OT or exercise physiology?

All three disciplines can support function, but they examine different parts of everyday life. Some participants benefit from one service; others need coordinated input.

Physiotherapy

Often focuses on movement, mobility, transfers, balance, physical capacity and participation. It is the service described on this page.

Occupational therapy

Considers everyday activities, routines, functional assessment, equipment and environmental changes. Explore NDIS OT.

Exercise physiology

Uses individually prescribed exercise to address physical capacity and functional goals. Explore NDIS exercise physiology.

Not sure where to begin? Describe the functional concern in the referral. We can explain which Healthroos service appears most relevant before an appointment is arranged.

Assessment at home

See movement in the environment where it happens.

A home visit can show how spaces, surfaces, stairs, routines, equipment and available support affect movement. The clinician can discuss priorities with the participant and observe relevant tasks in context, where safe and appropriate.

An initial appointment may include history, goal discussion, movement and functional assessment, risk screening, education and agreement on next steps. The exact assessment depends on the referral and clinical judgement.

Please have available, if relevant:

  • Participant goals and the reason for referral
  • Relevant clinical information and current supports
  • Plan dates and management type
  • Mobility equipment used day to day
  • Communication, access or safety information

Funding pathways

NDIS funding and physiotherapy.

Self-managed

Invoices can be provided to the participant or nominee. The participant is responsible for using funding in line with their plan and current NDIS requirements.

Plan-managed

With consent, we can coordinate invoicing details with the nominated plan manager before services begin.

NDIA-managed

As a registered provider, Healthroos can deliver eligible supports using relevant NDIA-managed funding when the service is available in the participant’s plan.

Important: An NDIS plan does not automatically fund every physiotherapy service. A support must meet current NDIS requirements and be consistent with the participant’s approved plan and available budget. Healthroos cannot approve funding, change a plan or guarantee an NDIA decision.

Review our NDIS allied health price guide and the official NDIS explanation of therapy supports. Fees, travel, reporting and other agreed charges are confirmed before services begin.

Reports and coordination

Clear, goal-linked communication.

With consent, relevant updates can be shared with family, nominees and the people coordinating supports. Before preparing a report, we confirm its purpose, recipient, timeframe and applicable fee.

A report may describe assessment findings, functional impact, progress, barriers and clinically reasoned recommendations. It can provide evidence for a planning discussion but cannot guarantee funding or a particular NDIA decision.
