The program
A new era in aged care, launched November 2025.
Support at Home is the Australian Government’s in-home aged care program. It launched on 1 November 2025 under the new Aged Care Act 2024, replacing Home Care Packages (HCP) and the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme.
It helps older Australians remain living independently at home with streamlined access to clinical care, personal care, domestic assistance, and social support — all coordinated through a single quarterly budget.
Healthroos delivers the clinical allied health component across Greater Sydney — AHPRA-registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and ESSA-accredited exercise physiologists, visiting you wherever you’re most comfortable.

Common questions
Answers, in plain language.
Yes. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and exercise physiology fall under the Clinical Care category, which is 100% government-funded for all Support at Home participants. No out-of-pocket contribution is required, regardless of your income or assets.
No. All existing HCP recipients were automatically transitioned to Support at Home on 1 November 2025 with equivalent funding. You did not need to reapply or be reassessed. You can continue working with Healthroos without any interruption.
Once we receive your referral or enquiry, we respond within 4 business hours and typically begin services within 1–2 weeks. There are no waiting lists.
Support at Home uses 8 ongoing classification levels with annual funding from approximately $11,000 to $78,000, assigned by an aged care assessor based on your needs. Most allied health participants sit in classifications 3–5. Budgets are paid quarterly, with unspent funds rolling over up to $1,000 or 10% of that quarter’s budget.
Yes. Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans can complement your Support at Home budget, though rules differ between services. Your GP and care manager can advise on the best combination for your situation.
A short-term pathway providing up to 16 weeks of intensive multidisciplinary allied health per episode, with up to 2 episodes available in a 12-month period (minimum 3 months between episodes). Each episode provides around $6,000 of funding, separate to your ongoing Support at Home budget, to help you regain strength and function after hospital, a fall, or a decline. Our physios, OTs, and EPs work together as a coordinated team.
From 1 July 2026, government-set price caps apply to every service under Support at Home. Providers cannot exceed these caps. Healthroos publishes current pricing transparently and will comply fully with capped pricing from July 2026.
Generally you access either Support at Home or NDIS, not both — eligibility depends on age and support needs. However, Healthroos provides both, so we can support you seamlessly if your circumstances change.
